Prediction, management, and damage reduction studies of various disasters that may cause casualties and social chaos.
The large-scale crowd-pressing accident that occurred during the Itaewon Halloween Festival in central Seoul in 2022 was a disaster that caused many casualties. The IRCCC covers the entire field from natural, social, special, and future disasters to the prevention, preparation, response, and recovery of various types of disasters that damage people and society. In particular, many countries are preparing for disasters according to the types and scale that have occurred before, making them vulnerable to new types of disasters such as global climate change, changes in living environments, technological advances, and side effects thereof. The IRCCC is working to respond to new paradigms of disasters in line with these environmental and situational changes.
